Jo

Director: Andrew Rokita

Genre: Drama

Tess (Molly Jenkins) is having problems remembering her lines as Puck in A Midsummer Night's Dream and with an unforgiving director at the helm another blunder is likely to see the end to an otherwise successful 180 year acting career. So Tess calls upon an old theatrical friend Jo (Gemma Lee) to weave her own bit of magic about the place! Always accommodating, Jo however has problems of her own in the shape of Mister "Aitch" a mobster who isn't too fussy how he gets his money back even if means sending accomplices Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dumb to sort out his sordid affairs. A comedy about everlasting trust and friendship!

Softly Spoken

Director: Andrew Rokita

Screenwriter: Andrew Rokita

Genre: Documentary

The idea to make a documentary about former textile company British Celanese was simply a matter of course.

There was no great plan, merely the notion that if we didn't do - and there was no one else offering to - then no one would make the picture. This is more poignant considering the place, vast 450 acre site on the outskirst of Derby was close to becoming extinct. In fact, a lot of decommisioning was already underway so we picked up on the project at the right time, and concluded just in the nick of time.

The project took the best part of 18 months, on and off! I didn't imagine it would take so long - no one did - but after a slow start, we started to get a feel for the story of this place through interviews with past employees. And you soon start to pick up on little gems, little asides that give the subject the human element, and bingo, you end up shooting for longer than you expected, made possible by a  dedicated crew.

A great experience and as always a joy to listen to all the stories....
